Ahead of Act 1 of the Extreme Sailing Series™, taking place on Singapore’s Marina Bay from 20-23 February, following three weeks of intense training on Sydney Harbour final preparations are now underway for GAC Pindar.

GAC Pindar has joined forces with Team Australia, the Challenger of Record for the 35th America’s Cup, and will compete for the fourth consecutive season with a talented young all-Aussie crew led by Seve Jarvin, the youngest skipper in the series. Joining Jarvin will be experienced America’s Cup sailors Sam Newton, Ed Smyth, and Troy Tindill, and 2013 18ft Female Skiff World Champion Alexandra South.

Jarvin, who arrived in Singapore earlier this week, said: 'The Extreme Sailing Series tour will be an exciting challenge for 2014 and I’m looking forward to getting out on the water and competing. We’ll face some tough opposition, with a world-class line up of sailors, but we’ve spent the last few weeks in Sydney training on F18 Catamarans, and the crew are in great shape. We are ready to give it our all!'

GAC Pindar Principal, Andrew Pindar commented: 'GAC Pindar has been fortunate to consistently attract world-class sailors, and we are delighted to have a young and energetic crew competing on the Extreme Sailing Series this year. As a result, we look forward to making waves in 2014!'

Ian Williams, four-times World Match Racing Champion and former GAC Pindar Extreme Sailing Series skipper will be joining the shore team in Singapore, ahead of his bid for an unprecedented fifth world title for GAC Pindar on the 2014 World Match Racing Tour.

The 2014 Extreme Sailing Series season promises to be the most competitive yet, with a total of 12 teams set to compete in the eight-event global series. The international line-up includes World Champions, Olympians and America’s Cup sailors, all bidding to secure the coveted Extreme Sailing Series title in 2014.

Four days of Stadium Racing gets underway on Singapore’s world-famous Marina Bay on Thursday 20 February.
