2016 470 African Championships – Day 3 overall

After the third day of racing at the 470 African Championships in Cape Town, the top position was once again claimed by the South African team of Sibusiso Sizatu/ Alex Burger.

A windward-leeward course was set half a mile from shore, with three back to back races on the programme. A clean start for the first race of the day at 1100, with wind speed around 15 to 17 knots, and the win going to Asenathi Jim/ Roger Hudson (RSA 1), Sibusiso Sizatu/Alex Burger (RSA11) and Ricky Robinson/ Brennan Robinson (RSA 8). Over the next two races, as in previous days, the wind again increased to 20 to 25 knots, with both wins going to Sizatu/Burger.

After Friday’s racing, and eight races so far, the top three overall are:

1. Sibusiso Sizatu and Alex Burger (RSA 11) – 12pts
2. Asenathi Jim and Roger Hudson (RSA 1) – 13 pts
3. Brevan Thompson and Alexander Ham (RSA 12) – 18 pts

Racing on Saturday 16 January gets underway at 1200 hours.
