The Puerto Portals TP52 World Championship 2015 was launched today in Madrid. The prestigious world championship is the third regatta of 2015 52 Super Series, the world’s leading monohull circuit, and sees the TP52 fleet set to muster 12 boats, the strongest world championships line up for many years.

Corinna Graf and Alvaro Irala, representing Puerto Portals, and Agustín Zulueta, general manager of 52 Super Series, joined together to launch the event in the heart of the Spanish capital.

The 2015 world championship will see 12 TP52s competing from ten different nations, including the return of the 2013 World Champions, the Swedish flagged Rán Racing of Niklas Zennström, and the 2014 world champions Quantum Racing. The American team will have America’s Cup winner Ed Baird back on the helm of the new eye catching TP52 with GBR’s Adrian Stead as tactician. Azzurra, leaders of the 52 Super Series, head to Puerto Portals, with their confidence high after winning the second event of the season, the Settimana delle Bocche on their home waters of Sardinia.

Agustín Zulueta, general manager of 52 Super Series, commented:
Each year there is a standout event everyone wants to win, and that is the world championship. This season we are delighted to be coming to Puerto Portals. Hopefully, this is the beginning of a relationship which will continue for many years. Puerto Portals has all the key ingredients, glamor, the Palma Bay race course and ashore unique facilities in the marine environment. I think it’s a perfect synergy.
