Easypower doubles winch power

by Nancy Knudsen on 2 Nov 2008
EasyPower - more winch power, more wench power SW
As someone who, being a wench (that's my excuse), has found many a winch to be the cause of great angst in the past, this 'Product of the Week' is just the thing! And if, as a sailor, you have more brains than brawn, you'll like this gadget too.

Easypower is an additional gear system that increases self tailing winch power, meaning that you can turn your ST winches much more easily. With Easypower 2-speed winches become 4-speed; 3-speed winches become 6-speed. Installation takes a few minutes. the product can be applied to most brands without any alteration.

This all means that self-tailing winches will function with less exertion of power.

Thanks to Easypower, even children and other muscle-challenged characters like me can turn winches where otherwise the strength of an adult male force would be required.

In addition, by using less strength for each turn of the winch, the endurance of the crew would be increased. This becomes important when sailing for a long duration in strong winds, keeping crew fresh and ready for any eventuality.

...and the great thing promised is that Easypower can easily be installed and uninstalled within 2-3 minutes on most of the already existing winches of any brand without any alteration or operation on the winch.

The product is produced by Turkish company Admiral Marine Equipment, who has produced many other fine marine deck products.
