The second day of the Hartley TS 16 National Championship, hosted by Napier Sailing Club, provided a traditional moderate sea breeze, in contrast to yesterday's regular big shifts, although the sea remained quite choppy.

Four races were sailed to ensure a completed series, with the weather expected to change again tomorrow as a stormy southwesterly looms.

The racing was close but making the most of the conditions was local boat Tickled Pink, skippered by Rob Hengst, taking two wins and two second places to jump from 10th to second on the table, slipping between overnight leaders Pronto and Tramp. Manukau's Gareth Insley is maintaining consistency on Pronto and holds a three point lead over Tickled Pink. Napier's Paul Dunford, sailing Tramp, didn't fare quite as well, having to discard a 13th place in today's second race, but remains in the hunt five points behind Pronto.

Also performing well in the fresher conditions is New Plymouth's Rumbo, with Wayne Holdt on the helm, taking two wins today to sit only a point behind Tramp and equal with another New Plymouth boat, Barefoot, skippered by Paul Moriarty.

If tomorrow offers more racing it will definitely be an exciting climax to this close fought series. Full results on
