Royal Akarana Yacht Club (RAYC) is proud to announce the 2014 Sail Fiji offshore yacht race with confirmed 2014 dates for the classic Auckland to Fiji ocean race and passage cruise rally.

The Cruising Rally will start from Monday the second of June 2014 and the Premier Race will start on Saturday the seventh of June 2014.

RAYC Commodore, Matthew Woodley says 'Royal Akarana Yacht Club is the home of blue water sailing and we are thrilled to announce the dates for the 2014 Auckland to Fiji race and cruising rally. The 2014 edition of the race follows the clubs very successful 2012 race to Noumea which was held in conjunction with Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron and Cercle Nautique Caledonien.'

RAYC is the host club for the A2B (Auckland to Bluff) fully crewed race to be held in February 2014 and Commodore Woodley says 'the timing of the Fiji race is perfect for International and local boats that have sailed in the A2B to make their way north and add the Fiji race to their 2014 offshore racing program.'

Races will be conducted under IRC and PHRF and dependent upon sufficient entrants, a two handed race division will be conducted.

Rally entrants will be permitted unrestricted engine use for forward propulsion.

Notice of Race and further race information will be published in the near future.

Information updates about Sail Fiji 2014 will be posted on the event Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/pages/Sail-Fiji/291208034330006, on the Royal Akarana Yacht Club website which can be found at www.rayc.co.nz, and on the Sail Fiji website www.sailfiji.co.nz.

Racing yacht owners with an interest in this race, and cruising yacht owners who would like more information about the race and cruising rally are encouraged to send an e-mail to Royal Akarana Yacht Marine Sports Manager Suellen Hurling (suellen@rayc.co.nz) expressing their interest. The club will ensure they are kept informed of all pre-race activities, race and cruising rally details, and post-race events.
