One-armed Japanese Sailor found safe after two months
'Chalong Bay Thailand - Akio Yonago safe and sound'
.
Akio Yonago, the one-armed Japanese sailor on Emu II arrived safe and well in Thailand after being reported as missing almost two months ago.
The hardy solo sailor left the Seychelles on the 28th April (see Sail-World Cruising story), and was one of four yachts who departed at that time, two of which had been reported by the French Navy as pirated.
However, Akio Yonago's son has now received a fax from his father to say that Akio has arrived in Phuket, and is safe and sound.
A search, both formal and informal was conducted of the coastline of Somalia, but no yachts were discovered.
