'School Holiday fun: Globetrotting Kids Deck 28 September – 12 October 2008'    Australian National Maritime Museum    Click Here to view large photo
Forget fuel levies, crowded airports and jetlag, these holidays you can take the family ‘around the world’ thanks to the Australian National Maritime Museum’s school holiday program 'Kids Deck: Trash or Treasure', from 28 September – 12 October 2008, Darling Harbour, Sydney, and you won’t even need to pack a suitcase!

Themed around the popular Trash or Treasure? Souvenirs of travel exhibition, the holiday program will have kids “globetrotting” as they learn all about different countries, their traditions and pastimes. There’ll be a range of traditional costumes from different cultures for kids to dress up in as they try their hand at kids’ games from around the world.

Kids can then create a lasting memento of their ‘voyage’ by decorating their very own souvenirs to take home and even sketching a design for a snow dome from their favourite holiday place! Hourly sessions will run daily throughout the school holidays from 10 am to 4 pm. Tickets are $7 per child, adults/members free. Suitable for children aged 5-12 years.

And don’t miss our fantastic new interactive theatre show You Got it Where? Our mystical mediums will reveal the amazing stories behind some of their more mundane travel souvenirs... is their snow dome really a secret listening device?

Bring along your own travel souvenirs to find out about their secret past… was your teddy bear an ancient Egyptian idol? Only our mystical mediums can reveal the real story!

You Got it Where? will be performed at 11 am, 12 pm and 1 pm, Monday to Friday only. Entry is included in the Kids Deck ticket. Suitable for children aged 5-12 years.

There will also be free screenings of the Disney animated classic Toy Story daily at 1.30 pm. Rated G.
