Heaven Can Wait Virtual Race breaking new ground

The sixth annual Heaven Can Wait 24 Hour Race and One Lap Dash fundraising efforts have broken new ground this afternoon, with myriads of small donations pushing the total raised towards $27k, well on the way to the overall target of $50,000.

The Presentations for the 24 Hour Race and One Lap Dash have been conducted at the Royal Motor Yacht Club Toronto, but the virtual race, the Charity Fundraising at www.HeavenCanWait.com.au still has two weeks to run.
This afternoon Lets Go surged into the lead, if only for a few minutes, then David Rowe’s Granny Jen surfed ahead again closing on $5,000, an amazing result from an inspired and inspiring team.

Granny Jen was this afternoon presented with the Shaun Lewicki ‘Spirit of the Regatta’ award.

Heaven Can Wait Yacht Club Commodore Lewicki said 'We are in awe of the efforts of the teams competing in the virtual race.'

While Granny Jen and Let’s Go have established a break on the pack at present, I was told that another of the crews in the top 10 have been promised another $1,500 towards their Cancer Council fundraising efforts, so its clear the virtual race still has a long way to go.

‘The wonderful thing about the Heaven Can Wait virtual race is that the impressive total from 2010 was composed of so many small donations. Last year the average donation was just $25 but there were lots and lots of them in fact just on 1600 donations, which really shows that every one counts.

‘The trend is just the same this year. So Please go to www.HeavenCanWait.com.au and Click on Donate. There you will find Boats and skippers and you can also search on crew names too, to ensure you can make sure your favourite team gets as boost, while you are helping the overall cause.’
