Canberra Yacht Club sailors Matt Owen and Darren Reed sailed a consistent seven race series throughout the blustery conditions that prevailed across most of Victoria last weekend. Gippsland Lakes Yacht Club at Paynesville suffered the changing weather patterns and rain squalls however the hail storms eluded the sailing on Lake Victoria where 40 Flying Fifteens gathered to contest the E-marineworld event. Past and current, state and national champions were competing along with many well credential sailors form other class's that are attracted to the two man strict one design international keel boat/off the beach class. Conditions varied from the sublime 10 to 12 not smooth seas of Lake Victoria to gusting 20/25 knot conditions which tested the abilities of the 80 plus sailors.

The classic division for older boats within the class is always keenly contested as often the veterans of the class battle it out with new members and often youth sailors attracted to the Flying Fifteen. Boats from Canberra Y.C, Mornington, Daveys Bay, Mordialloc, Royal Brighton, Royal Victoria and Cairn Curran along with the many local sailors from Gippsland Lakes Yacht Club rounded out the strong competitive fleet. In the Open Division it was Matt Owen and Darren Reed in 'Visit to Ward 11A' from Adam Hawkins and Ben Jones in 'I'd Swap it for a Bundy' from Mornington Yacht Club and local Gippsland Lakes Yacht Club members Craig and Ian Rainey in 'Where the Bloody Hell are You'. Reigning national champions Regan Burdon-Bear and Les Kearney from Royal yacht Club of Victoria in 'Affrodite' took out the Classics from Robin and Kier Malpas in 'Euffamism' from Canberra Yacht Club and Sue Thompson and Cameron Taylor in 'Fee Fi Fo Fun' from Daveys Bay Yacht Club were third.
