 | Missing yacht Polska Miedz - .. . | On the 30th June 2011, Polish sailor Tomasz Chichocki departed on a solo sail around the world on his Delphia 40.3 yacht Polish Copper (Polska Miedz). It had taken eight years preparation, and he had a great following, particularly from his home country of Poland. Now he is missing somewhere in the Atlantic and all cruising sailors in the Atlantic are asked to assist. No matter where you are reading this, if you have cruising sailor friends that could possibly help, please email or otherwise contact them to keep a lookout for this boat. It was in 2003 that Tomasz Cichocki came up with an ambitious plan to sail solo and non-stop around the world. He was already an experienced sailor, having crossed the Atlantic Ocean twice in one season, and several times the Baltic and Mediterranean seas. He intended to sail eastwards around the world without stopping. He departed from Brest in France, then down the Atlantic to take the traditional Southern Ocean route below the three Capes. All of this he did successfully. However, after rounding Cape Horn and sailing northwards along the Brazilian coastline, his communication suddenly stopped. Now, his friends, family, sponsors and supporters do not know where he is, and are very concerned because they have not heard from him in over a month, since 13th March, at 15:04 UTC. At that time his position was -20.18S -34.66W (approx 200 miles East of Espirito Santo, Brazil).
 | Tomasz - .. . | His EPIRB has not been activated and there is no sign of any emergency transmission from his yacht. Authorities have been contacted in Brazil, Poland and Internationally, merchant ship companies have been asked to help. There are literally hundreds of Australian cruising sailors spread across the world at any one time. If you or cruising friends have any information about this missing sailor please contact the local coastguard and/or Sail-World Cruising by contacting editor@sail-world.com or cruisingeditor@sail-world.com
