Participants at the recent 2012 Pittwater Multihull Rendezvous proved that more hulls means more fun, so, for those of you who missed out and are close enough to get to Pittwater, put it in your diary for next year. Alternatively, there's another Rendezvous scheduled in the Whitsundays in August.

Run by Multihull Solutions, the inaugural event was a tremendous success with owners and guests aboard 11 boats enjoying three days of sailing and social action.

There was a great range of multihulls entered including Fountaine Pajot Mahe 36’s, a Lavezzi 40, Orana 44’s, a Bahia 46, and a Catana 47. A Beneteau monohull was even given special approval to join the fun as its owners’ multihull was based in the Whitsundays.

The Pittwater Rendezvous was run from the Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club and launched with a superb Welcome Function where Multihull Solutions team members were auctioned as crew for the event.

Despite overcast conditions on Saturday, all entrants enthusiastically set sail around Lion Island before mooring at The Basin for an unforgettable St Patrick’s Day party on Bonnydoon Beach. The celebrations continued into the night aboard the ‘Skippers Afloat’ houseboat with incredible costumes, sensational food as well as great live music provided by the famous Condorus Maximus.

Headaches were soon shaken off on Sunday morning as the multihulls again set sail for another hotly contested fun rally, before returning to the Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club for a casual BBQ dinner and final presentations.

The coveted 'Overall Champion' title, judged on outstanding performances under sail, best jokes, impressive costumes and greatest team spirit, was awarded to Martin and Sonia Beamish about their Mahe 36, Reflection.

The 'Life of the Party' trophy was won by Christine Griffiths from the Bahia 46, Fantastique, who proved that you should never expect new owners to sit quietly in a corner!

Requests are already being received for entry into the 2013 Pittwater Rendezvous, and Multihull Solutions will be announcing details of next year’s event in the near future.

In the meantime, plans are well underway for the ever-popular Whitsunday Multihull Rendezvous from 27 August to 2 September. Full details of this event can be found at www.multihullsolutions.com.au or by contacting Multihull Solutions on 1300 855 338.
