Product of the Week: Freshield vacuum seal packager

'Freshield’s Elite II vacuum packer'    .
This week's product will prove to be a great luxury when sailing for more than just a few nights. Deep freezers are heavy on power, and the vacuum seal packager is just the answer to conserve your provisions or keep rust out of spare parts.

The Freshield vacuum system will store and prolong the freshness of all your raw and cooked foods. Freshield's system comprises everything you might need for the process: the innovative Elite Vacuum Sealer, Genysis Vacuum Canisters and Wizvac Bags and Rolls. Freshield tell us their accessories are extremely versatile and can withstand dishwashing, refrigeration, freezing, and re-heating processes such as microwaving and boiling.

How does it work?
The Elite II vacuum sealer pumps air out of the specially designed bags or containers and then seals the air out so as to create an oxygen free zone. It can be used with Freshield Vacuum Bags, Vacuum Rolls and Vacuum Containers.

The process leaves the contents in an airtight environment. The high quality bags and canisters seal air out and keep freshness in. This proven technology extends food freshness for up to 5 times longer than all other conventional storage methods.

Here are the advantages of taking one of these on on your boat:

It saves power, as it may eliminate the need for a freezer.
It is a very small unit, and can be used while in port then stored neatly away
You'll save on waste, and probably will use more of your food
You can keep leftovers as fresh and delicious as the day they were prepared
Prepare meals before the voyage and then simply reheat while travelling
Keep food fresh for up to 5 times longer than other storage methods
Avoid food spoilage by mould and bacteria which can grow as a result of exposure to air
Avoid air which oxidizes food, spoils flavours and omit odours
Avoid hardened foods caused by air and dehydration
Avoid freezer burns especially with meats

Spare parts:

The marine environment is very tough on anything you carry on board. Particularly for spare parts, to stop the deterioration caused by moist salt air, vacuum packing of your spare parts really works!
