Marina Rubicon in the Canaries - THE place for rallies

'Marina Rubicon - with Lanzarote’’s treeless volcanic terrain in the background'    .

Marina Rubicon on the amazing volcanic island of Lanzarote in the Canaries is becoming THE place for arriving and departing rallies. Last week we announced that the newly planned Christmas Caribbean Rally will depart from Marina Rubicon next December, and now the Iles de Soleil (Islands of the Sun)Rally will also use Marina Rubicon for its rally next year.

About Iles de Soleil Rally:
Created in 1990 by Georges Baurens, the Iles du Soleil Rally (RIDS) celebrates its 20th anniversary this year, and from now on is organised by the Grand Pavois Organisation (GPO).

The RIDS is for sailors of any age and from all horizons, just for sailing boats, with 6,000 miles to travel over two hemispheres, visiting three continents, and giving six months of unique adventure. The departure point will be from the French coast in September 2013.

Participants will meet up in Madeira, the Canaries then Cape Verde. After that, they will cross the Atlantic to Salvador de Bahia, and sail along the Brazilian coast in several stages towards Belém, where they will undertake the Transamazon Rally.

'Free, but never alone !' is the Rally’s philosophy, offering sailors a unique adventure within a reassuring and discreet framework.

The Marina Rubicon will be the reception port in the Canaries for the RIDS fleet coming from Madeira.
