Sail-World.com : Product of the Week: Occasional solar power
Product of the Week: Occasional solar power

'Sun Mini Bar Rail'    .

Each of the ways of power generation on a boat has disadvantages - wind generators are nothing without wind, trailing generators don't generate if you're at anchor, solar power doesn't work in the dark. Often there's a need to boost your power, and this new and innovative Sun Mini Bar Rail can be installed easily, is light, rigid and thin, and doesn't cost the earth.

The careful design combines a nice looking unit with an accurate but simple construction, and you can decide just how much power you need - the unit is scalar, meaning it can be installed alone or in multiples to build up plants over 200Wp.

The fastening system is on hinges with nylon sockets where the weight is distributed. The opening through rotation is managed by a simple, adjustable rope/elastic lines system. The module can be removed and repositioned in the area most exposed to the sun within a few seconds and without any tools.

Weighing only 1.5 kg for just 3 mm thickness, it can also be installed in a few minutes, and without and tools, in the intermediate rail of your boat. For quick visual directions on how to assemble the product, click here.
