Sail-World.com : Oyster nomination for European Yacht of the Year 2012

Oyster nomination for European Yacht of the Year 2012

'Oyster 625 sailing'    .

Any Oyster on the water can be guaranteed to turn heads, but the nomination of the Oyster 625 for the best Luxury Cruiser in the European Yacht of the Year Awards for 2012 shows that this is an all round winner.

Designed to be the starting point in the Oyster range where the option of a dedicated space for professional crew can be accommodated, the new Oyster 625 has brought some significant improvements to the already successful pedigree of the Oyster 61 and 62.

A new Rob Humphreys hull design with increased performance and handling, options for a sportier rig, several interior layout options and increased space in the master cabin by utilising the fuller aft sections are just some of the enhancements Oyster are introducing with this new design.

With an overall length of just under 19.4m (63.5ft) including pulpit, the Oyster 625 supports options of cutter rig, double headsail and in-mast furling. A displacement length ratio of 182 and a sail area displacement ratio of 22.3 deliver sparkling performance for comfortable passage making.

The yacht was launched earlier this year at Oyster's Private View in London.

One of the best things about this model is that, despite her generous size, the Oyster 625 is set up for easy, short-handed sailing for those owners who prefer to sail without crew.

However, with an interior option that allows for a forepeak layout for a full-time crewmember, giving the potential of five cabins onboard, combined with her spacious, flush aft deck - the perfect spot for sun lounging or entertaining - the 625 is as well suited to occasional charter as she is for comfortable family sailing.

A fresh look at interior design and detailing has given the accommodation a clean, contemporary feel with new joinery, upholstery design, shower rooms and hardware. Together with Oyster's choice of interior timbers and finishes, the Oyster 625 allows owners to create a really stunning onboard living environment.

The spacious saloon is fitted with triple 'seascape' vertical windows, which fill the saloon with light and give a fantastic view over the water while seated below deck, a real superyacht feature.

The accommodation features two generous guest cabins, each with its own heads and shower, a sumptuous aft owners suite, which is full beam and has private access to the aft deck and a fourth cabin that can be configured as a workshop, guest cabin or a children's cabin with access from the master cabin.
Oyster 625 galley -  .. .

The linear galley on the 625 offers significantly more storage than on previous models with space for a full size washer-drier and dishwasher as well as the standard front-opening fridge and freezer.
Available with a Standard, Shoal or SuperShoal keel, the 625 can be configured to meet every owners' cruising requirements.

The Oyster 625 will be displayed at this year's Southampton, Cannes and Genoa Boat Shows, so don't take our word for it, come and see this stunning new yacht for yourself.

The Oyster 625 will be available for sailing trials for a limited number of journalists immediately after the Cannes and Genoa Boat Shows. Once the judging journalists have conferred, the winners of the European Yacht of the Year awards will take place at BOOT, the Dusseldorf Boat Show, to be held early in 2012.
