'Red Dot design awards on display'    .

Winner - Ronstan’s Core Block -  .. .
The Red Dot design award is a large and coveted international product design prize awarded by the Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen in Essen, Germany, and an Australian sailing product has won one of their design awards this year.

Melbourne based Ronstan’s new Core Block™ Series has been selected as a 2011 Red Dot design award winner. Internationally recognized as the most stringent and prestigious product design award, Red Dot highlights the world’s most innovative new products.

Established in 1955, the Red Dot awards committee is currently comprised of 36 independent design experts from all parts of the globe. In 2011 they analysed a total of 4,433 products from 60 different nations. Key jury assessment criteria include: degree of design innovation, functionality, ergonomics, durability and iconological soundness.

Ronstan’s Core Block design was chosen as this year’s Red Dot winner in the Leisure, Outdoor and Sport category. Past Red Dot award winners in this category include Adidas, Puma and Neil Pride.

Designed as an attractive and affordable sailing block option, Core Blocks™ are ideal for sheet blocks on cruisers or racing cruisers and are also a good choice for high static load applications like halyards and backstays.

They are available in two sizes: Series 60 (2 3/8') and Series 75 (3'), generally suitable for boats up to 14m (46 feet) depending on the application. Alloy sheave models are available for use with wire cables.

Melbourne's Ronstan International is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of winches, hardware and accessories for sailing with offices in Australia, USA, UK and Denmark and backed up by a world-wide network of distributors.
