NSW Cat Sailors - an Unexpected Ride

'Blown from Potato Point all the way to South Tuross Head'    .
A couple of catamaran sailors got a ride that they weren't expecting when they capsized in the ocean in rough seas out from Potato Point on the New South Wales south coast this week.

Strong squalls got the better of the two sailors who were sailing their Hobie 14 catamaran. The catamaran capsized just before 5pm and they were unable to right it in the sea conditions.

With the sailors clinging to their small cat, it was blown northward by the strong southerly winds. The sight was visible from the shore and the alarm was raised, but the boat was blown past Blackfellas Point all the way up to South Tuross Head.

The catamaran was blown up onto the beach with the sailors uninjured, but probably a little surprised.

Emergency personnel reach the cat -  .. .

Emergency service personnel including the Narooma Volunteer Rescue Association Jet-ski and rubber duck, Narooma ambulance, Moruya police and the Ambulance service helicopter all responded with a long walk up the beach to get to the stricken yacht.

The small craft was pulled up onto the beach by the Tuross Volunteer Rescue Association duckie. Eden water police and the Narooma Royal Volunteer Coastal Patrol were also notified but their services were not required.

...maybe some more sailing lessons, or better reading of the weather next time boys!
