World’s best gather for WWA Wake Park World Series

For the first ever WWA Wake Park World Series contest an international pool of riders came together over the past two days in Australia. Go Wake – Mackay built custom rails and installed a brand new cable in the Queensland town of Mackay, Australia to accompany riders like Ange Schriber (AUS), Daniel Grant (THI), Tom Fooshee (USA), Matty Hasler (AUS), Julian Cohen (USA) and Aaron Gunn (AUS).

In the Pro Men’s and Pro Features divisions, riders ripped up the brand new, state-of-the-art cable. Tricks such as backside 900s, insane BS 360 transfers-to-nose press-to-revert 360s, and massive back mobe 540s where going down as the crowd motivated the riders to push their talents to the limit. In the end, it was Tom Fooshee who claimed the Pro Men’s Wakesessions championship, with a switch Pete Rose 720 off of the Jet Pilot Kicker followed by a tail KGB off of the flat water into an insane switch 270 to front board 270 out transfer on the Loose Kid fun box.

Open amateur divisions, highlighted by Open Men’s, Open Men’s Features and Open Women’s Features, turned it up on an all-Australian level. Every cable park in Australia was represented during these heated battles to determine the top amateur riders in the country. The event was the first time ever that amateur Australian riders hopped on the cable at once in an all-out features only 'best-trick' jam format.

The fifth stop of the 2013 WWA Wake Park World Series heated up as spectators lined the shores at GoWake-Mackay and local bands smashed hit jams all day. The newly inspired local spectators got a taste of what wakeboarding is all about, with local riders showing their talents against top international riders from around the world opened the eyes of the Queensland residents. After this event, there’s one thing for certain, GoWake-Mackay and the WWA are ecstatic about continuing the relationship in the future.
