World Odyssey Race cancelled
by Jimmy Cornell on 14 Nov 2014
World Odyssey Race Cornell Sailing Events
During the last two weeks we have received the details of the boats for the provisional entry list in the World Odyssey Race (see list below). Unfortunately we were forced to recognise that too many of those who have expressed an interest in sailing in the World Odyssey Race would do so on yachts which may not be suitable for the rigours of a circumnavigation in high latitudes.
As you know, our intention to organise the World Odyssey was to give sailors the opportunity to take part in an event that would bring back the spirit of the earlier round the world races. Unfortunately, the World Odyssey has failed to attract sufficient boats of the right calibre to ensure its ultimate success.
For these reasons, we have regretfully decided to cancel this proposed event into which we had put such high expectations.
I am very sorry to cause you disappointment with this decision, but I hope you understand. I also hope that you may sail one of our other odysseys in the future.
