Equipment suppliers enjoy strong sales at Auckland On Water Boat Show

- 2015 Auckland on the Water Boat Show - Viaduct Harbour Marine Industry Association .
Specialist marine suppliers of navigation and electronics, anchors, outboards and more say they’ve enjoyed steady sales and strong inquiries at this year’s Auckland On Water Boat Show.

Taking place in Auckland’s Viaduct Events Centre, the 2015 Auckland On Water Boat Show features more than 200 exhibitors displaying a huge array of products and services used by keen boating or water-sports enthusiasts for their favourite recreational pastime.

Show CEO Michelle Khan says she’s been delighted to hear of the positive sales reports from exhibitors like Absolute Marine in Auckland’s East Tamaki and Suzuki Marine NZ Ltd.

“Specific marine componentry like trim tabs and boat cookers have been selling well according to the team at Absolute Marine and they’ve also enjoyed a great deal of interest on their Torqueedo electric outboard range from Germany,” says Ms Khan.

“The team from Suzuki Marine have been supported at this year’s show by their Australian management. They’ve had a lot of inquiry and discussion about their outboard range as well as sales all three days of the smaller units that people can physically carry out of the show with them.

“Virtually every exhibitor I’ve spoken to has been pleased with the numbers of show visitors and that many are using the show as a way to assess different products that they’re looking to purchase; anything from boat toilets to paint and sealing system, teak decking, anchors, winches and electronics.”

Bill Dawes, from NZ Paddleboards, says attending the Auckland On Water Boat Show offers an important link to his customers.

“It’s interesting, as we’ve been coming here for six years now, how many people are coming back to tell us how much they like their paddleboard or are bringing their friends along to the show and saying you want to talk with these guys,” says Dawes. “We’ve also had a number of people tell us that a paddleboard now replaces or complements their tender or dinghy.”

Marine distributors Lusty and Blundell have used the show to launch their very latest thermal monitoring system.

Spokesperson Melissa Rewi says the Raymarine Flir AX8 marine thermal monitoring system utilises the AX8 camera which integrates with Raymarine multifunction displays. “It sends audible and visual alerts when the temperature of machine parts rise above pre-set thresholds, allowing owners to keep a watchful eye on such critical equipment as engines, exhaust manifolds and shaft bearings, and spot problems before they leave you stranded on the water.”

As well as the huge array of trailer powerboats on display, the Auckland On Water Boat Show visitors can go aboard more than 80 sail and motor yachts on the purpose-built marina and see a wide array of inboard and outboard engines, safety equipment, electronics and navigation systems, fishing equipment, kayaks and paddleboards, marine chandlery and more at the show.

A free seminar series offers advice on preparing yachts for offshore cruising, how to get into sailing, fishing tips and kayak fishing.

The show continues on Sunday with doors opening at 10am. Tickets are available online from iTicket or at the gate.

More information is available on the show’s website www.auckland-boatshow.com with regular updates on the show’s Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram and YouTube pages.
