Barbados Tourism Authority gives a stunning prize to aim for

Mike Holmes takes the helm in the 2013 Mount Gay Rum Round Barbados Race Peta Stuart-Hunt
Summer Series Regattas - The Barbados Tourism Authority is providing a stunning prize for the second year running for the most consistently successful competitor that commenced with the Club's May Regatta last weekend of 11-12 May.

One lucky owner and their partner will be rewarded for their Series prowess spanning the May, June, July and September Regattas, with a trip to Barbados to take part in the 2014 Mount Gay Rum Round Barbados Race, also sponsored by the Barbados Tourism Authority.

The winner will exchange the cooler waters of the Solent for the warm azure waters around Barbados and will enjoy scheduled air travel, hotel accommodation and the full social programme that surrounds the 78th Round Barbados Race, scheduled to take place on Tuesday, 21 January 2014.

Last year's winners, Mike & Jamie Holmes (Jika Jika), swept all before them in the UK regatta series and, having enjoyed the hospitality of the Island Inn, Mount Gay Rum and the amazing experience of crewing in the Round Barbados Race in January this year, commented: 'This was a wonderful prize, which we enjoyed immensely and taking part in this unique event was great fun. We enjoy the Royal Southern's regattas and recommend them and even if you don't win the prize trip, think about going to Barbados anyway. There are lots of charter opportunities and plenty of fun to be had on the island.'

The lure of a week in warm Caribbean sunshine whilst Europe shivers delivered a big entry for the first Regatta. The next Regatta, on 22-23 June has the added attraction of a Mount Gay Rum crew party, with further racing on July 13-14 and September 28-29.

The 'Champion of Champions' 2013, will be announced and awarded this amazing prize at the Royal Southern's annual glittering prizegiving in November.

The 2013 Racing Programme and entry details are available on the Club's website website.
