 Nine partners with GC Expo, what boat shows need to know, ASMEX 2013As we go out today, there's a lot of buzz about the newest boat shows on the calendar - namely Rivergate, Power, Sail & Paddle and the Gold Coast Expo - joining the stalwarts this time of year like Mandurah and over the ditch, Auckland in vying for exhibitor marketing budgets.
Organisers of these new events are buoyed by media support, exhibitor interest and participation by like-minded partners and crowd-pulling additions to their programs.

But many brands and marketers complain that there is simply too much going on - too many events which is diluting each and forcing exhibitors to choose between them, or spread their constrained budgets even thinner. Oh well, say the experts, that's competition. But there are a few fundamentals boat show organisers would do well to heed, and our exclusive interview in Q&A format with IFBSO President, Jurij Korenc, comes at a timely point in the calendar.
Also this week, more about boat shows, specifically, the reduced rates at Power, Sail & Paddle scheduled for Manly Harbour, Brisbane, 22 & 23 September, Maritimo and Mustang confirmed for Rivergate International Boat Show, 5-7 October, and Channel Nine teaming up with Gold Coast Expo for this year's event, 2-4 November. All great news for exhibitors!

Beyond the show circuit, there's plenty of new products, BLA securing Lewmar for distribution in Australia, and news from Superyacht Australia that Treasury is considering its report recommending a relaxation of regulations around the chartering of superyachts - a glimmer of hope for expanding marine tourism and positive news for the larger boating industry.

In the same vein, AIMEX/Superyacht Australia has announced the dates for the third ASMEX 2013 - the Australian Superyacht and Marine Export Conference, the key conference for the marine export and superyacht industry in Australia. ASMEX 2013 will be held 21 & 22 May 2013 at Sanctuary Cove, Queensland, just prior the 25th annual Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show.
