Sydney, Manly show, AMA challenges marine parks, Olympic excitementHere comes the sun, or a glimmer of it, along the east coast of Australia after these cold, wet few weeks. And with a hint of sun, come thoughts of boating, boat shows, and all the newest releases in boats and accessories.

The Sydney International Boat Show looms large, 2-6 August and we have a preview of several of the major launches you can see this year - with more to come in the upcoming days. We want your stories too, both in the lead up to SIBS and during, since our eager team will be on hand to capture everything that's newsworthy on video fort the most thorough and immediate coverage of the show while it happens - delivering value to exhibitors and advertisers.
 | | Manly Harbour Brisbane, venue for 'Power, Sail & Paddle' Marine Queensland |
After that, there's Brisbane Boat Show, 23-26 September and new to the schedule, 'Power, Sail and Paddle' to be hosted at Manly Harbour on Brisbane's beautiful Moreton Bay. Read all about this exciting, new hands-on event aiming to inspire locals (one in six of whom have a boat!) to get more out of the boating lifestyle.
Also this week, plenty to whet your appetite for the latest gear and gadgets as well as the first seminar from the Marine Integration Group (MIG), a collaboration of the world's leading marine electrical, electronics, entertainment and navigation companies who will host a forum in two locations in Asia at the end of July.
The Australian Marine Alliance has engaged a well known and successful law firm to fight against the formation of Marine Parks and determine a legal strategy and relevant legal jurisdiction for a challenge against the Commonwealth. Accprding to the AMA, this is one issue that must be kept in the media, marine and mainstream for the impact it will have on the fishing industry and the broader community.

We also bring you a profile on superyacht skipper, Chantal Woodford, who after 12 years at the helm of some massive yachts cruising the most sublime waters on earth, has settled down for the time being in glorious Fremantle, as part of the sales team at Princess WA. She shares a little of her background, her affinity with the brand, and impressions of the local market in this new phase of her career.
There is a batch of stories from NZ, China, Taiwan and all over the Asia-Pacific, and the world, as Europe gears up for the Autumn show circuit - Cannes, Monaco, Genoa and METS Amsterdam.

And importantly, as the London Olympic Games draw nearer - 10 days to go - and our interest turns to sailing at the highest competitive level, the mainstream has realised Australia might even stand more chance of bringing home medals in sailing than in swimming!
During the Games, Sail-World's expert team will be sending 20 newsletters to around 140,000 reachers, with Australian packages or NZ or Asian packages from as little as $1950. On our sites, we will reach 250,000 unique readers during August alone - making us the largest marine media network in the world, bar none. Get in touch to book your ad campaign now!
So much to cover, plenty of space, since online, all things are possible.
Thanks for sharing your own stories. If they're not here today, they will certainly be up later this week . . . keep them coming!Jeni Bone, editor
