Krys Ocean Race - blink, and you missed it! Transatlantic race, sub-5 days? If you weren't playing close attention, four out of the five boats are home and finished, with Yann Guichard (Spindrift Racing)winning the race from New York to Brest in a mere 4d 21h 08m 37s. At an average boat speed of 28 kts – so the MOD (Multi One Design) 70s are quick. Very quick!

Another multihull, l'Hydroptere.ch, has set a new record on Lake Geneva (not to be confused with the l'Hydroptere in Long Beach, California, waiting at the lights to start her crack at the Transpac record).

Hong Kong is being well-represented at Cork Week by Peninsula Signal 8, the Mount Gay Rum 2013 Neptune Regatta is getting into party mode a mere seven months before kick-off, there are only 14 days to go before the Olympic regatta starts in Weymouth, and the Editor is going sailing tomorrow – hold on to your hats!

The NOR Party was hosted by Nueva Cuba Bar & Restaurant overlooking the Marina Bay in Singapore. The inaugural edition of the Krys Ocean Race has resulted in a close finale between the podium finishers. Spindrift racing (Yann Guichard) finished at 12h 08 '37 UTC to take the outright victory. Crossing the finish at the Petit Minou light at 13hrs 19min 49secs (15hrs 19min 49secs local), 1h 11m 12s behind the winner, Sébastien Josse and the crew of Groupe Edmond de Rothshchild took second place.... Yesterday we had the second race day at Cork Week, and for our fleet it was the good old Olympic course: triangle, sausage, triangle, sausage, small beat to the finish. The breeze was again offshore, NW around 8-12 knots, but with a forecast swing to the southwest and a good chance of freshening to about 15kn - and an equal chance of dying away... Tricky stuff.... First two races of Cork Week yesterday (Monday). There are about 10 boats in our class, which is pretty small compared to pre-GFC Cork Weeks, but the quality is high.
