Chaparral Qld dealer, Don's 'Blue Dream', ASMEX names share insightThe countdown in on to Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show and the activity is frantic - from exhibitors and the boat show team, the hundreds of people involved in the logistics, the red tape and finer details.
 | | Sanctuary Cove Boat Show .. . |
It's just five weeks away and there are still many more announcements to come, including additions to the entertainment program, new exhibitors, a couple of incredible local promotions with massive prizes on offer and some industry 'firsts' - all of which will be announced later this week and next. There are more than 40 first-time exhibitors at SCIBS this year - great to see in tough times!
This week, which started with global memorials and celebrations of the legacy of the Titanic, we also have plenty of news from around the globe of new products, some novel marketing strategies and updates from the Volvo Ocean Race, with winners celebrating and stragglers limping in to the next port, Itajai Brazil. As the preparation heats up for the Americas Cup, locally we can only envy the host cities of these major yachting events - the media attention, the influx of visitors who travel the world chasing these events, the various crews and support teams, the infrastructure they demand AND the money they spend while they're in town!

In the next few weeks, I will be speaking with some of the main proponents of these significant events and how Australia can capture them, plus how the broader marine/boating industries stand to benefit.
In the lead up to ASMEX also held at Sanctuary Cove just prior the boat show, we have an exclusive insight in to the special guest speakers and their candid summary of both the local and global industries, plus valuable advice on how to confront and surmount the current challenges.

Another feature this week to get you dreaming is Don McIntyre's latest escapade, exploring the submerged wrecks of Tonga looking for 'Blue Treasure', all with the assistance of a great bunch of strangers from all parts of the globe who soon become 'family', sourced through FindACrew. If Don's story doesn't have you poring over the world map, you're not breathing! Check out his site at www.bluetreasure.me for all the tantalising details.
Have a great week, keep your feedback coming as we value every word - be it of praise or constructive criticism.Jeni Bone, editor
