The race of the Volvo Ocean Race shore crews is well underway in Cape Town, as three of the teams struggle to get their respective charges ready for the start of Leg 2 - due to part for an undisclosed destination on 11 December.
We will have a fuller update in Sail-World's Volvo Ocean Race newsletter later this weekend.
It's just under a 100 days to go until the fleet arrives in Auckland and we have the latest newsletter from the Auckland Stopover in this edition.
Also leaving from Cape Town is the Global Ocean Race, after being held back because of bad weather, the fleet is headed south towards the Ice Gate, but has already split into two, maybe three, groups, and suffered one dismasting. Race leaders, the New Zealand father and son crew of Ross and Campbell Field, are handily placed.

We have the story from the start and a video interview with the father and son crew from Sec Hayal as the recount their experience in moderate sailing conditions on the first night, and their options from here.
In Perth, Western Australia, the ISAF World Sailing Championships have been opened and racing is about to begin. Sail-World will have an editor in Perth for the final week of the regatta and will be carrying regular updates.

In Sydney, a New Zealand crew, led by Dave Haszard has won the Harken International Youth Match Racing Championships being sailed out of the Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club on Pittwater, we have reports and images from the event in this edition of sail-World.com's newsletter.
There's another Jules Verne Trophy attempt underway with the maxi trimaran, Banque Populaire V, skippered by Loick Peyron, well on record pace, and has already set a record for her starting point to the Equator - churning out the distance in just over five days. From reports to date it would seem that the weather windows are going their way, with her crew enjoying some very fast but relatively comfortable sailing.
