Offshore action and news from across the boating scene

I bid you good morning, afternoon or evening, depending on what part of our wonderful world you're in at this time.

If you need some reading matter, you're definitely at the right place because we have plenty to hold your interest.

I guess the ‘headline act' this week has been the sensational opening to the 2011 Australian Offshore Superboat Championships staged off Newcastle.

With 2005 Class 1 champions aboard, 'Maritimo' looked the goods as it claimed ownership of the chequered flag for Luke Durman and Ross Willaton. - Newcastle offshore  Reg Blunt

Don't miss the fabulous photographs of some of the spectacular action courtesy of our skilled cameramen Andrew Gricks and Reg Blunt.

While we're on the subject of offshore racing, we can also reveal the future plans of the race outfit ‘Team 3'.

Those with a good memory may recall ‘Team 3' being destroyed by a rogue wave off Redcliffe a coupled of years back.

Team owner Adam Gilbert (also president of the Offshore Superboat Championships) has acquired a new boat from the famous Dubai-based Victory team and designed by the legendary Michael Peters.

In other news, we take a close-up look at the fabulous Yamaha V8, the F350 and reveal the company has a brand new Sydney-based dealer for its famous personal watercraft.

On the fishing front, there's to be another Fishing Forum this year, scheduled for a rural setting where members of the public (I'm sure they mean ‘the fishing public') will be able to table their thoughts on all matters related to inland angling.

A reminder, too, that the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show (May 19 – 22) is right on our doorstep and let me tell you, we will be there, and how! (You will find us in the MarineBusiness-World.com Pavilion Booth 40 - Yes that's our own Marine Industry publication)

Enjoy the browse through the news and drop back regularly to catch our updates and keep up with all matters of interest.
