Genmar divided up, London underway, Aussie celebrate cracker summer
Back to work for most people, capping off a holiday break that could be characterised by a return to confidence in most sectors and market around the world, led by strong retail resurgence at Christmas time.
What optimism then for the boating industry, as a new decade inspires people to turn their thoughts to what really matters in life – family, friends and leisure time. And as Scott O'Hare from Aussie Boat Sales points out, “boating covers all three”.
Now it's up to dealers and brands to convert this enthusiasm to sales, positioning boating as the best way to unwind.
London International Boat Show seems to echo these sentiments, four days in to the event (8-17 January) and show organisers are already talking strong numbers and a return to consumer spending.
Talking shows, the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show, with Barry Jenkins back at the helm, is counting down til its 22nd instalment, 19-23 May 2010. There are going to be many new facets to the event, including exhibitor bookings online, a brokerage component and world and Australian launches, so get your plans underway to attend.
As well as an overview of the summer from Aussie Boat Sales (and some compelling pics from their NYE party!), and news of the fate of Genmar as it's split two (or is that 3) ways, we have plenty of product news, awards, launches and commentary on industry issues this week, and updates daily.
Send your own info and opinions along as we'd be glad to hear them.
