Alinghi's America's Cup Defender reported to be 'spider-like' Richard Gladwell, Sail-World has been advised by normally reliable and knowledgeable persons who have seen Alinghi's new America's Cup Defender, and who have been briefed to a degree by Alinghi personnel. 18 footer Drama – Mark Foy Trophy at Carnac Mason Woodworth, Day 4 of the 18 footers Mark Foy championship, on Quiberon Bay, Carnac France, started after an hours delay under overcast skies and building wind. Williams bows out of Match Cup Sweden WMRT media, Fantastic racing conditions allowed the organizers of Match Cup Sweden, Stage 5 of the World Match Racing Tour, to complete the repechage round. National 12 Gill Series Event 4 and Summer Event report Steve Sallis and Howard Chadwick, There was a turnout of 20 boats for the fourth event of the Gill series held at Leigh and Lowton SC. Laser designer appointed to the Order of Canada Sail-World and Paul Henderson, Ian Bruce (Montreal) designer of the International Laser class, was awarded the Order of Canada on Canada Day, 1st July. Bruce was one of 60 new appointments to the Order of Canada. Former President of ISAF, Paul Henderson described the award as a 'great honour for Ian and his beloved sport of Sailing.... Down the Amazon in a bath tub, now 48 hours in a GP-14 dinghy Al Constable, Five years ago Dublin sailor Rob Dowling completed a marathon 24-hour sail, sponsored by his local club. Spurred on by its success, Rob then sailed solo, in a plastic bathtub down the Amazon River. Last year he completed a three-day 114-mile raft race, again down the Amazon in Peru....
