The holiday weekend is over and its back to the office, so time to catch-up on the weekends sailing news.

The 2009 British Open Team Racing Championship for the Wilson Trophy came to a breathtaking finale on the marine lake at West Kirby Sailing Club, when in front of a large crowd of enthusiastic spectators who had packed the grandstand and lined the promenade, local heroes West Kirby Hawks overcame the visiting US team from Larchmont Yacht Club in a wild and windy five race final.

On Friday 1 May at 1719hrs, Sail-World (along with many others) received an alert from the New York State Unified Court system advising that a motion had been filed to 'Disqualify Counsel' - Not True - Read Richard Gladwells explanation.

Skandia Team GBR sailors now lead four events after the fourth round of the new ISAF World Cup circuit, read who is making waves.

In the Portimao Global Ocean Race, by midday GMT on Sunday (03/05), Felipe Cubillos and José Muñoz had sailed Desafio Cabo de Hornos to within seven miles of race leader Beluga Racer, slipstreaming Boris Herrmann and Felix Oehme 90 miles off the Brazilian coast. 3000 Class Travellers Trophy event at Ullswater

The 3000 class first Travellers Series meeting of 2009 was held at Ullswater YC in the Lake District and was won by Joe Pester and Lyndi Jones of the home club. The event was shared with the 29ers and 49ers, but it was plain to see which was the most committed class with only the 3000 of Stewart Patience and Nick Prince entertaining the spectators by going out for a long early practice thrash!...
