Sanctuary Cove and more...

No prizes for guessing where the Powerboat-World team was between Thursday and Sunday.

Spot on, Sanctuary Cove was the place to be and that wasn't just our thoughts – more than 50,000 joined us there, the second best attendance in the show's 20-years.

Prior to the show's opening Maritimo's CEO Bill Barry-Cotter played host to more than 400 at a black tie diner to launch two of his latest creations, while the Australian Marine Industries Federation staged its annual Marine Awards on the evening following the opening day.

For the second year running, Riviera claimed the top gong and we bring a full report on the awards. We will bring you many feature articles on Santuary Cove over the next couple of weeks.

Earthrace, the 78' Kiwi trimaran, is doing it a little tough battling towards the Marshall Islands on one engine – here's hoping the effective repairs can be carried out quickly.

We are quite proud that Powerboat-World's coverage of this round the world attempt is the most detailed any media is producing and its being re-run by mainstream media world-wide.

More in racing circles we've got the lot; exciting Formula I at Toukley, on the NSW Central Coast, Victory 1 claims the Montenegrin Grand Prix and Powerboat P1 delivers some great racing at Marseilles, France.

During our Sanctuary Cove ‘marathon' we did see some exciting new craft – innovative, stylish, spacious, attractive, any adjective you'd care to throw up.

Well, if you were not able to make it to ‘the cove', but you will be there at the Sydney International Boat Show (July 31-August 5) then don't despair, over the next few weeks we'll bring a brief review, accompanied by some first class images, of the boats to look for at Darling Harbour.
