Sail-world.com, the World's largest sailing news network is expanding again, with five new marine sites soon to be launched in Europe, Sail-World publisher Rob Kothe announced in Copenhagen today.
Kothe said ’Europe is without doubt the key sailing area in the world, with 48 member countries of ISAF. It hosts more major sailing events, more World Championships, more Olympic class events, more dinghy regattas than any other, so this expansion in Europe is a major step forward for Sail-World, which will growing rapidly in Europe, has up to now had most of its traffic coming from the America’s and the Asia-Pacific.
’The new Sail-World Europe team have great credentials. Our new Sail-World Europe editor Dan Ibsen is probably one of the best connected sailors in Europe, a former Olympian and high performance coach, 28 years the Danish Sailing Association Secretary General. Dan has been instrumental in the development of major sailing events across Europe through his long involvement with the 44 national EUROSAF of which he is a long time Vice President and Chairman of the EUROSAF Events committee.
Kothe continued, ’Combining with Dan Ibsen to operate Sail-World Europe is the highly regarded Baadmagasinet ApS, one of Scandinavia's most complete maritime media houses owned by Sören Överup, Christina Igel and Lars Kiär, print and online pioneers for many years.’
Jedda Murphy, formerly the Sail-World UK and Europe Editor and now the TetraMedia (parent company) Group Manager explained ‘Sail-World welcomed more than three million visitors in 2013, with more than 400,000 monthly visitors in the second half of 2013. With news teams, editors and sub-editors around the world the sites are updated 24x7, and news is published in 78 languages, some 15 of those we have 1200+ sailing technical words and phrases that have been translated by our team.
‘At present the Sail-World technical glossary is used with French, Spanish, German, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Greek, Turkish, Norwegian and Danish. Currently being translated are Russian, Polish, Swedish, Finnish, Bulgarian, and Croatian, as well as Arabic, Mandarin, Thai, Korean and Japanese, so we are reaching sailors everywhere.’
Dan Ibsen said today, ‘We are excited to be taking the helm for Sail-World Europe. The global 24x7 news network concept is incredibly strong, and it will become even stronger with our Sail-World team focussing on Europe including the UK, adding to the Asia, Australia, New Zealand and America’s content. We are looking forward to launching a new Olympic Class newsletter next month.
Soren Øverup from Bådmagasinet, ‘Around the world sailors have moved online and advertisers are recognising they must follow. Sail-World.com is the only truly international medium. It has over 700,000 visitor sessions each month, with an average of 10 pages read each time.
’With one online ad, maritime exporters can reach across Europe, or even the whole world! ’
Details of the new sites and their launch dates will be provided shortly.
