Rally through the Canary Islands - February 2013

by Lee Mylchreest on 27 Nov 2011
Canary Islands Rally SW
There's plenty of time to prepare for THIS sailing rally - and if you can't sail there, you can charter a yacht and have a holiday of a lifetime. It's the Canarias Sailing Rally, first to the 14th February, 2013.

Several marinas in the Canary Islands off the west coast of Africa have combined to provide an easy and enjoyable way to see the best of the islands.

Partly because of its exotic location, the charm of the Canary Islands has long been a well-kept secret. From dramatic volcanic lava tunnels to quiet verdant woodlands, the archipelago invites you to explore another world.

The Canarias Sailing Rally provides the opportunity to cruise comfortably around the islands, whilst introducing the colourful and yet lesser-known aspects of this region’s culture with Carnival street parties, visits to volcanology and astronomy centres, examples of local folklore, options for walking and diving.

The Rally departs from Puerto Calero, Lanzarote and visits the six other islands ensuring good berthing, full facilities and an attractive cultural programme from each marina destination.

The fleet will be accompanied by an experienced leader offering tips and advice if required, together with a technician available for recommendations and assistance within the marinas.

During the rally there will be many land excursions, starting off in the amazing island of Lanzarote, which is a land of young volcanoes.

You'll be able to see food cooked by volcano power alone, and relish in the amazing views. You'll also be able to visit the home and view the art of great architect and artist César Manrique who designed the island of Lanzarote to become the work of art that it is today.

The rally will finish in suitable fashion with a party and celebrations on the beautiful island of La Palma.

You won't want to leave it until the last moment to make up your mind, because the rally will be limited to 30 yachts.
