OCC's Seafarer's Recipes - a best friend on a long or short cruise

'Sharing a meal - could be the beginning of a lifelong friendship'    .

The Ocean Cruising Club (OCC) means many things to its members, but here's a bonus that is available to all, whether you're a member or not. The OCC's 60th Anniversary Collection of Seafarers' Recipes is an ideal friend to take on that short or long cruise, whether you're a Cordon Bleu chef who's never cooked on a boat or a sailor who's never cooked at all.

Called 'From the Galley of...', it includes well over 250 recipes that are regularly prepared on small sailing boats. These recipes were written by members of the OCC, who have been caring for and feeding crew on the world’s oceans for 60 years.

OCC's 60th Anniversary Cookery Book -  .. .
Here's what one reviewer said:
This is an amazing resource that combines the experience and expertise of cooking onboard of some of the most adventurous souls on this earth, the members of the Ocean Cruising Club. To be a member, you have to have done at least a 1000-mile passage non-stop. That's a lot of miles at sea where things can get boisterous and crews need to be fed. There are even tips for how to store the mega-fish you catch, how to translate measures between different countries, and what things are called in different parts of the world. What's really great is that it doesn't represent just one person's point of view but many different ways of approaching food preparation. I just down loaded the Kindle edition and it's perfect.

Of course, all the reviews haven't been positive, but that's where you come in. It's around $15 for the paperback version, and only $10 for the Kindle version. Buy one or the other and then tell others what you think!

Why this book is valuable:
Whether in distant lands where familiar ingredients are unavailable or in local harbours sharing potluck with fellow cruisers, this is a collection of recipes for cooking meals both underway and at anchor. They can, of course also all be done in a proper kitchen. Being 'boat recipes' they are by and large simple to cook, tasty, and nutritious.

A shared meal is often the start of a lifelong friendship among adventurous souls. Join the members of the Ocean Cruising Club in the cockpits and beaches of distant places to celebrate 60 years of breaking bread together in some of the world’s most remote and exotic destinations.

About the Ocean Cruising Club:
The Ocean Cruising Club is an international club for blue water cruisers administered from the UK. The distinctive blue and yellow burgee with a stylized Flying Fish is a welcome and respected sight in any anchorage. Founded in 1954 by the late Humphrey Barton, the Club known affectionately as the OCC exists to promote long-distance cruising in all its forms. It has no premises, regarding the oceans of the world as its clubhouse. However, it enjoys visitors' rights with a number of major clubs world-wide.
