Multihull Solutions Phuket 2014 Regatta - new sponsorship

'Entries are now open for the Multihull Solutions Regatta – Phuket 2014'    Kate Elkington

Having just expanded its operations from Australia and New Zealand into Asia, Multihull Solutions is excited to be affiliated with the Ao Chalong Yacht Club event, which will now be known as the Multihull Solutions Regatta – Phuket 2014.

Set to celebrate its seventh year, the Multihull Solutions Regatta – Phuket 2014 is the biggest multihull-exclusive regatta in the Asia Pacific and presents a superb new winter holiday or minibreak idea for Australasian cruising enthusiasts.

Comprising three days of racing and a jam-packed social calendar, the regatta is one of the most affordable events of its kind with entry fees from just AUD$120 per boat including skipper and $AUD55 per crew!

With very competitive airfares and accommodation in Thailand, the regatta is a superb way to experience the region and its breathtaking cruising grounds.

The Multihull Solutions Regatta – Phuket 2014 is open to all multihulls (catamarans and trimarans) with an overall length greater than six metres that are acceptable to the race committee. Private and charter multihulls are welcome to enter, and the regatta is expected to comprise the following classes: Racing Multihulls with valid OMR ratings; Firefly 850 Sports One Design Class; Cruising Multihulls without OMR ratings; and Classic Multihulls.

Multihull Solutions sought sponsorship rights to the regatta as soon as the company had expanded operations into the region in early 2014.

Multihull Solutions Asia general manager Andrew de Bruin said the regatta perfectly complemented the company’s activities in the region.

'I’ve been a member of the ACYC for 12 years as well as being on the committee for several years, and I have watched this regatta grow since its inception to the successful event it is today,' Andrew said.

'As the regatta caters exclusively for multihulls, it was only natural that Multihull Solutions came onboard as a major sponsor,' he said.

Multihull Solutions has committed to a two-year sponsorship of the regatta, with the option to extend for future years.

'We’re particularly keen to see cruising classes join the racing yachts to make this the ultimate multihull regatta to do in southeast Asia,' Andrew said.

'Depending upon numbers we want to tailor the regatta’s courses to suit the boats. In years to come we want to see Fountaine Pajot, Catana, Privilège, TAG Yachts, Sunreef Yachts and NEEL Trimaran owners all joining in,' he said.

'The regatta is arguably the best value for money sailing event in the region, and we expect the event will continue to grow significantly in the next few years.'

Multihull Solutions hopes to compete some of its own yachts in the regatta, and will confirm the details of these closer to the event date.

Following Multihull Solutions’ success in Australia and New Zealand, the company officially expanded its operations to South East Asia in early 2014 with its Thailand office based in Phuket’s Boat Lagoon. The company is the exclusive distributor of Fountaine Pajot and Catana Catamarans in southeast Asia and will also represent Sunreef Yachts, TAG Yachts, NEEL Trimarans and Privilège Catamarans in the region.

The company now has offices in Phuket to provide sales and service for new and pre-owned multihulls, and plans to expand to Singapore in the near future.

The Multihull Solutions Asian team works closely with the Australian and New Zealand teams to ensure new and existing clients are comprehensively serviced throughout the entire Australasian region. This network also expands the company’s pre-owned multihull brokerage, making it the largest in the Asia Pacific.

Further information about the Multihull Solutions Regatta – Phuket 2014 can be obtained by contacting 1300 855 338 (within Australia), 0508 Multis (within New Zealand), +66 8 1894 1530 (within Asia), emailing info@multihullsolutions.asia or visiting the website at website.

Corals strive to stay just under the surface of the ocean. Coral reefs need to get it just right—submerged in the sea, but shallow enough for the corals’ symbiotic photosynthetic algae to soak up sunlight.
