Winter has had much good sailing weather this year, so here's hoping you are making the best of it – forget about the Global Financial Crisis, and just go sailing. It must be what many long range sailors are thinking, because the Atlantic Rally for Cruisers (ARC) has been so successful this year that they have closed the entry almost five months before the 22nd November departure date. Two new boats are featured this week – the new Bavaria Cruiser 32, and the Sunfast 3200 from Jeanneau, which will be on show at the Sydney International Boat Show, coming up at the end of this month. There are also a couple of great products - a new weather-proof marine fan (well shouldn't ANYTHING marine be 'weather-proof'?) - and the AIS Watchmate, making interpretation of AIS data just so much easier and pertinent for the cruising sailor. This last was the invention of the two Kiwi cruising sailors pictured above.
 | Natasza Caban - on the last leg of her solo circumnavigation - .. . | Completely untroubled by such stressful subjects as global economic crises, there are two solo circumnavigators on the final legs of their magnificent voyages. The sailing world is watching the challenges thrown to seventeen-year-old Zac Sunderland as he beats his way up the coastline, and in the same ocean is Polish Natasza Caban, a little older but just as game, as she completes her last leg from Panama back to Hawaii. Lots of other stories too, both from Australia and the rest of the world: everything from the newsworthy to the bizarre, from the useful to the sad. As usual, Sail-World Cruising is keeping you up to date with all that's going on in the world of non-competitive sailing, so skip through the articles below to find those that interest YOU. Smooth cruising!
