Coastal Classic: New tracking system hoped to be running for race

Coastal Classic organisers have advised that they expect to have race tracking online for this year's event.

Friends, family and fans will be able to follow the fleet.

TeamVodafoneSailing - the external satellite receiver supplied by PredictWind is in the foreground on TVS. The rear box for size comparison purposes is a Jonbouy.
It is hoped to have an iPhone (and maybe Android) app available before the start which can be downloaded by competitors, so your friends and family can see where you are at.

Boat owners are requested to tuned for instructions on how to download the App to your phone. Organisers will email complete instructions to skippers on Thursday, and provide instructions at the Skippers Briefing.

Can you contribute too, and help us bring the race to life for online followers?

Coastal Classic organisers will have a team of reporters stationed around the Hauraki Gulf to catch the start, but once the fleet is out of sight past Rangi Light, it's all up to you.

Please call, text, email, with information about what's happening on your boat - where you are, wind conditions, sea state, what boats you can see, how you are doing, what's for lunch, tell us funny stories...

Please text Zoe on 021 273 5070 with your boat name now, so she can put your details in her phone.

You can also email photos and updates to ccinfo@coastalclassic.co.nz
