Chicago Match Cup Grade 1 Invitational - Calling all midwest sailors: Wrap up the summer sailing season with the Chicago Match Race Center. Racing takes place from September 28 to October 1 from 9am-5pm daily (weather permitting) on Navy Pier. You can watch live from stadium seats as the world's top-ranked sailors including two of the US Olympic Match Racing hopefuls compete for a $65,000 prize.
Chicago Match Race Center Spring Invitational 2011
This event is one of only two Grade 1's in North America and is the closest to America's Cup racing that you will find in the midwest. When the CMRC was at the Pier in August thousands of people watched as Olympic Gold Medalists, World Champions and local favorites battled it out mere feet away from the Pier. Will you be part of the crowd for this event? It is free and open to the public. Live, expert commentary (Including Americas Cup 34 Commentator Gordie Shaver) will be explaining the racing throughout the day. Not convinced yet? As an added bonus a German Oktoberfest will be happening alongside all the match race action.
Want to experience the racing in style? Come to our VIP Event Thursday, September 29th on the Grand Ballroom's Balcony from 2pm-7pm. VIP's will have an exclusive view of the racing alongside an open bar and appetizers. After the racing, you will be joined by the sailors for a press conference, meet and greet and dinner buffet. Don't miss out! RSVP online today!
Can't make it to Chicago? Enjoy the new Americas Cup live coverage? While we don't have winged sailed multi-hulls or million dollar TV budgets the beauty of traditional match racing on a one-of-a-kind venue is still worth checking out. Tune in from 9:00am-5:00 pm each day online for all the action.
