The Delta Lloyd Regatta is in the books for another year. Medemblik delivered yet again with another day of solid conditions, with 18-25 knots of breeze providing a quality end to a very exciting regatta. Canada was represented in 4 of the 10 Olympic classes in the Medal races with the top 10 from each class competing for the grand titles in each event.

Zac Plavsic in the RS X class led the way with a third in the Medal race securing a Silver Medal overall, while Gordon Cook and Hunter Lowden in the 49er class sailed to a fifth place finish in the Medal race and sixth overall for the event. In the Finn fleet Greg Douglas battled to a fifth in the Medal Race moving up to eighth overall and a personal best finish at a World Cup event, and finally David Wright succumbed to an OCS in the medal race and slipped to eighth overall. These scores combined with the other Canadian results set the team up well for the forthcoming Sail For Gold event in Weymouth.

With the activities winding up here in Medemblik the team will now take a couple of well deserved days off following a trio of big breeze days before focusing on the task at hand in Weymouth. Stay tuned here as results will continue to roll in within a weeks time as the entire Canadian team takes up the challenge yet again in Weymouth at the 2011 Skandia Sail for Gold event.
