What's on the horizon for the International RS Feva Association?

2012 is nearing its end and what a year it has been! Memories of Hayling are still etched in my mind. I thought it would be great to give you an update on the International RS Feva Association to get you all enthused about 2013!

The second year of the Easter Training Camp is proving to be very popular with all twenty charter boats being booked. We have now had to ask if we can increase the number of charter boats but it’s not that easy. If we have sufficient demand, then it would make all the difference in our ability to get more lorries loaded and out here with boats. So, if you are still thinking about coming, email me ASAP and I will put you on the waiting list. We need more on the waiting list to be able to bring more boats. It will be a truly international event with entries from NED, SWE, GBR, CZE LTU and ESP.

A high quality RS Feva coaching/training DVD has been produced and will be available for sale via the website within the next few weeks. We think the DVD’s will be very helpful for many and could also make great Christmas presents. The rushes are excellent and I think we’ll be proud of this one!

International regatta – Lipno CZE 22nd-23rdJune 2013 - This is a highly exciting, brand new invitational event of one boat per nation who will be invited to compete; So I guess that means... get out and train as hard as you can to impress your association in the hope you will be nominated. This event could well develop into a major prestigious regatta for which those invitations will be greatly sought after!

Entries for the RS Feva Worlds – Grosseto are now live and we already have many booking. There is an entry limit of 180 so please hurry and enter to avoid disappointment. RS Feva Worlds website

Plans are going well, the local organisation committee are busy planning and competitors are busy booking up accommodation etc. If you are looking to hire ribs you may wish to try Port Tack Charter. The more boats booked the cheaper the cost will be.

Any queries you have or any help you might need with planning for the Worlds, please don’t hesitate to contact me. gollytucker(at)rsfeva.org

Concerns were expressed by associations about collecting International membership from their members. As an experiment for 2013, the world entry fee gives automatic international membership. We will review this at the AGM at Grosseto next year.

As discussed at Hayling Island, the venue for 2014 is as yet not decided upon. In keeping with the policy of maximising development of the class all options are still being considered including the bids already made. Any suggestions are welcome. Also as discussed at HISC, we now have a new International Chairman as he has been able to resolve his potential work commitments issues – Jop Dutilh (NED). Thank you Jop, we know your contribution to the International class will be valued. Bill Tucker has consequently moved over and is now Development Officer.
