Abu Dhabi Ocean Racing (Ian Walker) has completed her back to back Atlantic crossing and is now back in UK

After a long voyage in cramped conditions, with no washing facilities and only frozen dried meals to eat, the Abu Dhabi Ocean Racing (ADOR) team was eager for food, cold drinks and warm showers when they safely reached Gosport on the English south coast.

Having successfully completed its second Atlantic crossing in four weeks, Azzam will now undergo a thorough check by the shore team before its appearance at Aberdeen Asset Management Cowes Week, the Artemis Challenge and the Sevenstar Round Britain & Ireland Race over the coming weeks.

'It was a great crossing, although testing at times,' said Skipper Ian Walker of the passage which saw the crew encounter virtual flat calms as well as winds up to 40 knots and thunder and lightning storms.

Not the Official Release from the VOR Press Conference.
It’s very interesting to go to press conferences and then read about them afterwards The latest edition of the Volvo Ocean Race finished in Gothenburg in the last week of June this year, and the Italian press (described as “knowledgeable” in a VOR press release) are asking Knut Frostad whether there will be an Italian entry on the next race? C’mon, guys, do you really think he has a yes/no answer to that? And there was someone asking about the possibility of a German entry...
