After a top five finish at the World Champions, Mercury – Canada’s Formula Two team secures a second place in the series points championship with a mere 29 points away from the lead and becoming the first Canadian and women to win the championship.
For Tammy Wolf, it was all about finishing the World Championships in a respectable position. As the Formula Two season comes to a close with one race remaining drivers are now focused on the point’s race.
At the World Championships, Wolf time trialed fourth and finished qualifying heats in the top five positions although her the boat was plagued with battery issues. It has been a challenging year for the team, unlike the dream season they had in 2013, the team started the season with steering issues in Texas, was involved in a multi-boat accident in Indiana and now battery issues in boat Canada and Michigan.
In her rookie Formula Two season (2013) Wolf ended as the first runner-up in Formula Two Series point’s race. She posted four Top 5 finishes with a season-high ranked second place at the World Championship and third place podium finish at the US National Championships in Illinois.
After getting her feet wet in Formula Three for the previous eight seasons, Wolf continues to express her gratitude for a strong foundation in racing. 'With 20 years or racing experience in numerous different classes, I continue to learn and develop with every new challenge' Wolf said, 'it is because of our base of experience that we have achieved so much in so little time, we need to press forward and expand in this team. This is a Formula 2 team on the verge of a championship.'
The Series Point’s championship will be decided at the final race of the season in Texas, September 19 – 21. C
