With light winds and a new long period swell the decision was made by Head Judge, Duncan Coombs, to call another lay day.
Tomorrow and Friday see the pumping swell and light winds continue and it looks as though a Pe’ahi Challenge will be held over the next two days. With the swell size in mind a lay day has already been called for tomorrow and it is also likely Friday will also be a non-competition day with the swell likely to be too big for Ho’okipa.
However, into the weekend the swell size is finally expected to drop and it looks as though the trade winds will also return, which could provide a grandstand finale to the double eliminations.
As things stand Sarah Hauser (Tabou / Simmer / MFC Hawaii) and Kevin Pritchard (Starboard / Ezzy / MFC Hawaii) top the rankings, but that could still all change with Sunday in particular looking promising.
