Ce samedi 15 novembre à 15 heures 59 minutes 20 secondes, Marc Guillemot a franchi la ligne d’arrivée de la 10e Route du Rhum - Destination Guadeloupe. Le skipper de Safran a mis 13 jours 1 heure 59 minutes et 20 secondes pour boucler le parcours de 3 542 milles à la vitesse moyenne de 11,28 nœuds.

Il a parcouru en réalité 4056 milles à 11,28 nœuds de moyenne. L’écart au premier, François Gabart, est de 21 heures 20 minutes et 25 secondes. 'Marco', qui participait à sa cinquième Route du Rhum consécutive (4e en 1998 en ORMA, 2e en 2002 en ORMA, 7e en 2006 en IMOCA, 3e en 2010 en IMOCA), a fait preuve d’une ténacité à toute épreuve pour sa dernière course à bord du monocoque Safran. Malgré de nombreuses avaries, il a su rester dans le trio de tête et conserver sa place sur le podium. Il est arrivé à Pointe-à-Pitre dans un état de fatigue extrême car privé de pilote automatique depuis plus de 72 heures. Un grand coup de chapeau! Petite anecdote: cela fait trois fois que 'Marco' arrive à Pointe à Pitre un 15 Route du Rhum
