International 14 Class World Championships at RCYC preview

by Peter Hayward on 24 Apr 2013
.
International 14 Class World Championships 2013 will be hosted by RCYC this September. The 2013 Worlds include a Team Racing Championship Sept 9-10 and the Fleet Racing World Championship Sept 14-21.

At its annual general meeting last night, the members of the Royal Canadian Yacht Club in Toronto elected active International Fourteener Jamie Keating as their new commodore. Along with crew Andre Colenbrander, Jamie has been sailing in the class since the 80's and was on the Canadian team at the 1987 Worlds in Japan. They currently sail a Bieker 5 design that was built by Object 2 Skiffworks in Toronto. A big supporter of small boat racing, Jamie is looking forward to welcoming Fourteen sailors and their families from around the world to the 2013 International 14 Class World Championships.

The notice of race was published on April 15th: here and competitors can now register online via the club's Fleet Team Racing

At night there was a big drop in wind speed, then it came back soon. I saw on the AIS that Stéphane’s speed went down to seven knots. I started worrying about him, then I met the reason too: there was a massive fog - just as if we were sailing by Ireland. I could see only 50 metres, which means one and a half waves.
