Australian radio manufacturer, GME in association with Elektronik Lab India’s leading marine electronics distributor are delighted to announce the success of their joint bid for the supply, installation and maintenance of 100 plus GME GX-600 VHF radios to the Goa Ports Authority.
Goa, the former Portuguese colony, better known these days as an international tourist destination is also home to a myriad of busy river channels; transporting large quantities iron ore and other materials up and down the waterways and to the large cargo vessels anchored outside the main port of Mormugao.
Due to the recent increase of piracy and other regional security concerns, the Captain of Ports, Goa in conjunction with the Indian Coast Guard recently mandated the carriage of fixed mount marine VHF radio transceivers on all barges operating on the Goan rivers.
In selecting the GME GX600, the tender assessment committee recognised the enduring association between GME and Elektronik Lab, the number of GME products, including VHF radios, Emergency Beacons in service with both the Indian Navy and merchant marine, and most importantly the demonstrable level of exceptional local technical support provided right around India by Elektronik Lab’s service department.
Bahadur Sanjana, Elektronik Lab’s Managing partner noted 'With the GME GX-600 and Elektronik Lab Collaboration, it was a win-win deal for GME, ELab and the Barge Owners, we were up against extremely stiff global competition; the GME GX600’s weatherproof design and compact size coupled with its superb value for money were the determining factors in the decision.'
