Garda Trentino Olympic week in Lake Garda came to an end yesterday with some impressive Canadian finishes and season firsts! The event is the second leg of the Eurosaf Champions Sailing Cup, bringing together some of the best sailors from Europe and around the world!

Canadian SKUD team John McRoberts and Jackie Gay sailed their way to a silver medal in a competitive 12 boat fleet, making this their first podium performance of the year.

Another first for Canadian 49erFX team Arielle Morgan and Heather Myatt who sailed a consistent regatta securing them a spot in yesterday’s medal race and sixth place finished overall. This result is Morgan/Myatt’s first medal race ever internationally finishing in an outstanding fourth place!

Nacra Team Ramsay/Girke continued to deliver with another top 10 finish straight on the heels of the Hyeres World Cup. The CST veterans Luke and Nikola raced another strong regatta finishing seventh overall.

Canadian Sailing Team members Robert Davis, Laurence Bonneau-Charland, Jean-Sebastien Fugère and Gabriel Verrier-Paquette also raced in Lake Garda. Davis secured his spot in Gold Fleet after two days of qualifiers, finishing 25th overall in the Laser fleet. Bonneau-Charland finished sixth in the RS:X women’s fleet while the gents finished 18, 19th respectively.

Next for the sailors is the ISAF World Cup Weymouth. The World Cup event will run from June 8th – June 14th on the waters of the 2012 London Olympics.
