Several Womens top sailors have been sailing the FX presented by Mackay Boats ahead of the ISAF Womens Olympic Skiff Trials to be staged in Santander, Spain in mid-March.
The FX is one of five boats that will be evaluated in the Womens Skiff Trial. All the other entries are from Britain.
In this video double Olympic representative,
Jo Aleh (NZL), ISAF Youth World Gold medalist
Martine Grael (BRA) and 2008 Olympic Bronze medalist
Isabel Swan (BRA) give their impressions of the FX. And ISAF World Youth Silver medalist,
Alex Maloney (NZL), and double ISAF Youth Representative in the Womens Singlehanded event,
Molly Meech (NZL), talk about transitioning to the new Skiff Event and their hopes for 2016 Olympics.
There's also comment from Ireland's Matt McGovern, another 2012 Olympic representative, this time from the 49er guys' points of view.
The FX features a 49er hull, foils, prodder and boom, with a rig especially designed for the weight band specified by the International Sailing Federation for the trials. The boat has been undergoing refinement in Auckland for several months. Equipment is from the regular suppliers of 49ers, with the new rig being supplied by North Sails and Southern Spars.
Stay tuned for a series of nine videos, as top womens two handed skiff crew, Alex Maloney and Molly Meech show you how to tack, gybe and all the essentials required for those new to skiff sailing. Molly and Alex use the prototype FX especially fitted with several Go-Pro cameras.
