Clipper Round the World - Sir Robin Knox-Johnson donates signed jacket

by Ruth Harrington on 12 Mar 2014 In celebration of the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race's partnership with its official charity, Sir Robin Knox-Johnston has donated a signed Henri Lloyd jacket to the Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust for auction which has also been signed by its founder - legendary yachtswoman Dame Ellen MacArthur.

All proceeds of the auction will go to the trust which gives young people aged eight and 24 in recovery from cancer the chance to rebuild their confidence through sailing, working with every young person’s principal treatment centre in the UK. To date the Clipper Race has raised over £16,000 for the trust which will contribute in helping the trust achieve its three-year plan to double the number of young people it works with by 2016.

Sir Robin, founder and chairman of the race, says: 'For me the Clipper Race is about giving everyone, regardless of who they are, the chance to achieve their dream, which is exactly what the Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust endeavours to do for so many brave young people.'
